Remote Control and NumPad Make Your Mac Life Easier (Sponsor)
Anyone following along will already know that Evgeny Cherpak creates apps that make your Mac life easier by utilizing your iOS devices as additional input and control surfaces. He’s got a vision on these things that routinely makes me think, “I didn’t realize I needed this until I had it… and now I can’t imagine not having it.” With that I’d like to offer Evgeny double thanks. Thanks for creating the apps, and thanks (again!) for sponsoring TMO here this week.
First on the list today is Remote Control for Mac. We’ve talked about this before, and it’s worth continuing to talk about until everyone’s gotten on board. Remote Control for Mac makes your Mac fully-controllable from your iPhone. Perhaps you’re using a Mac Mini to stream to your TV… or perhaps you’re AirPlaying movies to your Apple TV from your iMac downstairs in your office. Heading downstairs to control the iMac, or even using VNC remotely, can be either a pain or a geeky adventure. I love geeky adventures, but not necessarily when I’m enjoying some downtime to simply watch a movie.

With customized control panels for services like Netflix, Youtube, Plex, and more, Remote for Mac simplifies the process so much you won’t want to use anything else!
Enter Remote Control for Mac. Not only does it let you control your Mac without seeing your Mac’s screen, it does so in very activity-centric ways. Watching Netflix or YouTube? Cool, you get controls specific for each service. Running Plex or VLC? No problem, the controls change to give you very app- and service-specific controls, tailored perfectly to give you only what you need. Like I said, Evgeny Cherpak’s tools make your life easier. Go get Remote Control for Mac today.
Next up, and new for us here at TMO, is Remote Pad for Mac. If I called it “NumPad” you’d immediately know one thing it does, but in addition to turning your iPhone into a numeric keypad for your Mac, Remote Pad also includes a preset keypad with arrow keys, home, page up/down, and those “other” things you use. More than that, though, is the ability to create your own custom keypads with any key combinations you want, including “chords” of keys, like Command-Tab, or even Option-Shift-K in case you want a quick way to type that snazzy Apple logo (in most fonts!).
Think about using this with your laptop to create customized keyboards and shortcuts pads for things like Keynote, Final Cut, Logic, and more. Really powerful stuff.
Once again, our sincere thanks go out to Evgeny Cherpak for his sponsorship of TMO. We’re proud to have him as a sponsor, and we’re stoked to be able to use his apps with our Macs! Check out Remote Control and, of course, Remote Pad for Mac today.
