The bill will require police to get a warrant before accessing electronic data shared with third parties like apps and cloud services. Utah law enforcement is concerned that their ability to catch criminals would be impeded by H.B. 57.
I want to make clear that the protections that we now have in the paper world are also in place for the electronic world.
