Apple Expands iPhone Trade-in Program

LONDON – Apple extended the promotion to its trade-in program to countries around the world, giving more people wanting to upgrade to an iPhone XS or XR more money off a new device. In the U.S. users can still get up to $450 when trading in an iPhone X.

Trade-in for Money off a New iPhone


Apple extended a promotion to its trade-in program on Friday (via AppleInsider). For a limited time, users around the world can get more money off a new iPhone XS or XR when they trade in an old model.


In the UK, an XR can now be purchased from £499 instead of from £749 if a user trades in their iPhone 7 Plus, or from £529 if they trade in an iPhone 7. An upgrade to an iPhone XS will cost from £749 instead of from £999 trading in an iPhone 7 Plus, or from £779 if trading in an iPhone 7.


Other countries the promotion is running in include Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Sweden. However, at the time of this writing, the promotion is not available in Latin America, Africa or India.


U.S. customers can still get up to $450 off a new iPhone XS or XR if they trade in an iPhone X.  An iPhone 8 Plus can get up to or $350  off and Apple is offering up to $300 for an iPhone 8 or iPhone 7 Plus. The Apple GiveBack program launched in the U.S. in November.
