How to Enable Instagram’s New Comment Keyword Blacklist
Instagram rolled out a feature designed to help users avoid comment trolls, keyword blacklisting. The feature will block comments with an Instagram-chosen list of keywords “often reported as offensive.” You can also add your own keywords. Comments with those keywords will be hidden from your posts. Here’s how to enable it:
Enabling Keyword Blacklisting in Instagram Comments
First, update to version 9.3 of Instagram, which was released on Monday, September 12th. Under Options, you’ll see a new Comments section, as shown below. You’ll have to scroll down a bit, as it’s below the Language options.

Next, tap Comments:

As shown in the screenshot, keyword blocking is turned off by default. Turning it on activated Instagram’s safe-space-friendly keyword blocking. Adding in your own keywords blocks comments with just those words. Using both controls stacks.

Instagram 9.3 is a free update, and it’s available now on the App Store.
